A low pressure system will move along the southeast through the weekend, bringing rain chances to the Piedmont this afternoon through tonight. Dry and warming high pressure develops for the first half of next week before a significant storm system begins impacting the eastern states late in the week.

Light snow accumulations are expected to have occured at elevations at or above 3500 feet ilast tonight. The best chance of accumulating snow is along ridgetop locations. Any accumulations could make for slippery road conditions by daybreak, with temperatures expected to be near the freezing mark in many high elevation spots.
Thursday through Tuesday The light snow will taper off Thursday morning, but could mix with light freezing rain or freezing drizzle before ending. Slippery road conditions could persist through mid morning.
