Knob Fire Update

The Knob Fire, which started on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 2nd, has grown to about 644 acres as of the morning of November 9th. Here are some maps and a brief update on the fire, courtesy of the USFS Command Team. Click on any image to embiggen it to a larger size.

Outlook

Planned Actions - Mop up control lines 50 feet in from containment lines. Crews will be patrolling and cleaning out control lines. Monitor Hwy 64 for smoke and traffic. Respond to all initial attack fires within the temporary flight restriction boundary established for the fire and support all other initial attack as requested by host unit or cooperators.


Projected Incident Activity - 12 hours- Fires will continue to be active until late evening or early morning hours. Expect himidity to recover to 94% with temperatures near 41F.


Weather Concerns 


A cold front will move from the southeast throughout the region. Ahead of the front, winds will gradually increase before shifting to northwest and increasing 10 - 20 mph, gusting up to 35 mph along ridge tops. Cooler today, keeping relative humidity around 40%.
