RAIN EVENT OF NOV 18-19 IN MACON COUNTY A line of rain passed through Macon County yesterday evening between 6 pm and 7 pm, with periods of rain before and after. 2015 Veterans Day Parade in Sylva, NC

On Sunday, November 8th, a Veterans Day Parade was held in Sylva, NC. The event was hosted by the Jackson County Veterans Office. Andy Shaw Ford loaned several vehicles to transport veterans on the parade route, which ran from Mark Watson park, down Main Street, then back to Mark Watson Park via Mill Street. Franklin Fire department was called to a fully involved structure fire at 8:54 pm on Saturday, November 7, 2015. The fire chief reported the residence was on the ground when the first apparatus arrived on scene. Mountain Valley and Cullasaja Fire Departments provided mutual aid assistance on the call and Macon County EMS stood by in case here were injuries.
