The Macon Overdose Prevention Coalition sponsored a panel discussion entitled: "The Opioid Epidemic: Silently Affecting Our Community" in the lower level of the Franklin town hall this past Thursday evening from 6 pm to 8 pm. The coalition is composed of Full Circle Recovery Center, LLC and Learn to Cope.

The town hall included a slide show with facts and figures about the Opioid Epidemic and panelists discussed various aspects and problems associated with Opioid abuse, followed by a panel discussion composed of Ronnie Beale, Macon County Commissioner; NC Senator Jim Davis; Randall Williams, MD, Mayor Bob Scott, moderator; Julia Cavender, MSN, PMHNP, Master of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; Erica Williams, in recovery; and Stephanie Almeida, Substance Abuse Counselor.
