Dry high pressure moving off the eastern seaboard will permit southerly winds to gradually bring moisture back into the region today through Saturday. A frontal boundary will approach from the northwest later this weekend and then cross our region early next week. Another front arrives later in the week.

Clarks Chapel Volunteer Fire Department is hosting their annul BBQ Fundraiser on Saturday, May 27. It will feature Barbeque, Music, Raffles, Silent Auction, and plenty of family fun. The fire department is located at 270 Fulcher Road in Franklin.

Based on current COVID-19 trends, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is planning for the federal Public Health Emergency (PHE) for COVID-19, declared under Section 319 of the Public Health Service (PHS) Act, to expire at the end of the day on May 11, 2023. Macon County Public Health will stop publishing weekly COVID updates but will continue to monitor local case levels and trends. In the event that case counts increase significantly, MCPH will notify the public and resume weekly COVID updates.

2008 – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducts the largest-ever raid of a workplace in Postville, Iowa, arresting nearly 400 immigrants for identity theft and document fraud.
2010 – Afriqiyah Airways Flight 771 crashes on final approach to Tripoli International Airport in Tripoli, Libya, killing 103 out of the 104 people on board.
2015 – A train derailment in Philadelphia kills eight people and injures more than 200.
2015 – Massive Nepal earthquake kills 218 people and injures more than 3500.
2017 – The WannaCry ransomware attack impacts over 400,000 computers worldwide, targeting computers of the United Kingdom's National Health Services and Telefónica computers.
2018 – Paris knife attack: A man is fatally shot by police in Paris after killing one and injuring several others.
