Macon County Implements Burn Ban

Macon County Implements Burn Ban

Todd Seagle, Emergency Management Director

Due to current and forecasted weather conditions and local circumstances, pursuant to North Carolina Fire Code Section 307.1.1, open burning within 100 feet of a dwelling — including burning leaves, branches or other plant material — is hereby prohibited.

This ban becomes effective at 6:00 PM on March 28, 2026, and will remain in effect until further notice. Significant rainfall will be required before conditions improve enough to permit outdoor burning.

The North Carolina Forest Service has also issued a ban on all open burning beyond 100 feet from a dwelling.
