Cloudy and rainy with fog in the morning. Highs ranging from the upper 40s at the higher elevations to the lower 50s in the lower elevations. Light variable winds, mainly from the southeast in the morning, then rotating around through the west to come out of the northwest in the afternoon hours. Near 100% chance of rain in the morning dropping to 50% chance by 6 pm. Rainfall amounts between a quarter to half an inch, with most of it falling before noon.
TONIGHT
Cloudy skies with decreasing cloud cover and patchy fog overnight. Lows ranging from near 30 at the higher elevations to the mid-30s in the lower elevations. Light winds out of the northwest. 50% chance of rain around 6 pm dropping to 10% chance at 6 am. Rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch expected.
MONDAY
Mostly cloudy early, then becoming mostly sunny by mid-morning. Highs ranging from the mid-40s at the higher elevations to near 50 in the lower elevations. Light winds out of the northwest early, then increasing to 5 to 10 mph as skies begin to clear.
MONDAY NIGHT
Partly cloudy skies with lows ranging from the mid-to-upper teens at the higher elevations to the low 20s in the lower elevations. Winds around 10 mph out of the northwest with gusts in the 20 mpg range. 20% chance of precipitation, mainly in the form of rain, then switching over to snow showers as temperatures drop. As of 3 am Sunday morning, I am not expecting any accumulation out of this, except for less than an inch in the northern and northeastern sections of the county above 3,000 feet.

Sunny skies with highs ranging from the low-to-mid 30s at the higher elevations to near 40 in the lower elevations.

2018 Trail Ambassador (TA) Training and Refresher Course
The NHC will again provide training to Trail Ambassadors who will do day hikes on our 60-mile section to meet thru-hikers this spring. TAs will provide local knowledge and Leave No Trace education. With a 14% increase in northbound thru-hikers in 2017 over 2016, anything NHC can do to help with visitor use management will ensure a pleasant hiker experience and help protect the resource. FRIENDS OF THE GREENWAY FUNDRAISER FOR FEBRUARY AND MARCH

On January 1, 2017, the Syringe Exchange Program of Franklin began operating a comprehensive harm reduction program to address the opioid epidemic that is impacting western NC. Opioid overdose reversal kits including naloxone are available free of charge.
