A cold front will stall near the area today, while another front is expected to approach on Monday. A strong upper ridge will build into the area during the mid-to-late week period, bringing a return of hot temperatures and reducing the coverage of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

1. A low pressure trough over the central tropical Atlantic Ocean is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Although this system is close to dry air, some slow development is possible over the next few days while the system moves westward at 15 to 20 mph. An Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate the disturbance Monday afternoon, if necessary.

* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent.
