Outlook
A cool and wet pattern will persist for the first half of the work week before a cold front crosses the area late Tuesday. Behind the front, dry high pressure will spread over the region and linger through Thursday. Another front is expected to move through the forecast area late Friday into early Saturday.
Flags Lowered Until Sunset Feb 14th for Congressman Walter Jones
Governor Roy Cooper today ordered all United States and North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered immediately to half-staff in tribute to Representative Walter Jones. Rep. Jones served eastern North Carolina's 3rd District in the U.S. House of Representatives for more than 20 years. He will be funeralized Thursday, February 14, 2019. [LINK]

Weather Hazards
Rain is expected to dominate the local weather pattern for the first half of the week, with a couple of inches expected to fall in Macon County Monday through Wednesday. The most rain is expected to fall on the Highlands Plateau and minor flooding could develop where local drainage is poor. Please be careful on area roadways where water tends to pond and/or run across the road due to poor drainage due to the danger of hydroplaning if you drive too fast for conditions. It would be better to arrive late than to not arrive at all or get in an accident.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to continue through Tuesday afternoon, possibly leading to isolated flooding. Gusty southwest winds focused across higher elevations may develop Tuesday morning and continue from northwest behind a cold front late Tuesday into Wednesday.
