Here is the news and weather briefing for Macon County.

GENERAL OUTLOOK

Rain chances are expected to increase today ahead of an approaching cold front. Showers and scattered thunderstorms, some with potentially heavy rainfall, will cross the area tonight and with the cold front on Thursday. Very windy conditions will develop on Friday. Dry and warm weather return for the weekend into early next week.

The Macon County Board of Commissioners met last night for their regular April 2024 meeting. Video and supporting documents are posted at [Macon Media]

During a public hearing on a propsed sale of the building and land to a developer, members of the Sugarfork community spoke out against the sale and convinced the county commissioners to give them a chance to retain the Old Pine Grove School. A non-profit will be formed and they will report back to the commissioners in 30 to 60 days.
