A moist easterly flow of moisture will continue thru midday, but should gradually end later today as Imelda moves off to the east toward Bermuda. From tonight onward, dry high pressure ridging down from the northeast will control our weather, bringing cooler temperatures for Thursday and Friday, but normal temperatures and fair weather for the upcoming weekend.

GENERAL OUTLOOK

A stalled frontal boundary will drift westward and back over our area today allowing for a return of showers and possibly a few thunderstorms. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Imelda will drift north of the Bahamas. The system is expected to slow down and turn east and away from the Florida coast by late Tuesday. The system will then move further out over the Atlantic as broad high pressure builds over our region from the north.

A stalled frontal boundary will linger along the Carolina coast today as high pressure briefly builds into the forecast area. A tropical system will drift northward and approach the South Carolina, Coast on Monday and Tuesday. It now appears less likely that our area will experience significant impacts from this system early next week. The tropical system is expected to move further out over the Atlantic later in the week as high pressure builds over our area from the north.

A tropical system will likely impact the area early next week but confidence remains low at this time with regards to specific impacts. Depending on its exact motion and track, Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine could bring impacts such as heavy rainfall and gusty winds Monday into late Tuesday across the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia. The heavy rainfall threat may linger later into next week but confidence is low at this time.
