GENERAL OUTLOOK

Heat and humidity ahead of an approaching cold front will result in development of scattered to numerous showers and storms across the area this afternoon. A few strong to perhaps severe storms are possible. Cooler and drier weather returns on Sunday and lingers through at least the middle of next week.

The main threats will be from frequent cloud to ground lightning and torrential rainfall. However, a few isolated severe storms producing brief damaging wind gusts and perhaps isolated large hail are possible this afternoon.
