HAZARDOUS WEATHER
For most of us, hazardous weather is not expected today or tonight.

Light mountain snowfall is possible Wednesday after a cold front passage. Amounts range from a couple tenths of an inch to no more than one inch over the favored higher terrain locations of Southwest Virginia, the northern Plateau, and the Southern Appalachians.

Wind gusts will increase across the higher terrain this afternoon, then again on Wednesday afternoon, persisting into Thursday. Gusts will approach Wind Advisory levels, between 35 to 50 mph. On Wednesday night, wind chills could dip into the teens to single digits above zero.

Monday, December 2nd was a busy day for local news, Here is a brief rundown of what happened. 

 The Macon County Commissioners said goodbye to Commissioner Paul Higdon last night and Shauna Thun Lamb administered the oath of office to Josh Young and newcomer Barry Breeden. Once the new board took office, Josh Young was elected chairman and Gary Shield the new Vice Chairman. A video of the meeting will be published later this week. 

 The Franklin Town Council met at the same time as the County Commissioners and Macon Media had a camera at that meeting, too and will be publishing a video of that meeting later this week, too.

Macon County Board of Education Swears in Members, Elect Leadership

The Macon County Board of Education swore in the members who won re-election this past November into office today. Shawna Thun Lamb, the Macon County Clerk of Superior Court, administered the oath of office. Photos of the ceremony are posted below, and a video of the ceremony will be added later today. A video of the full meeting will be published later this week. Macon Media (Bobby) and The Franklin Press (Thomas) were covering the meeting for their respective news outlets.

Jim Breedlove took the oath of office with his wife and grandchildren. Later, on nomination by Melissa Evans, he was re-elected as Chairman of the Board.

Melissa Evans took the oath of office with her husband and children present. Later, on the nominations of HIlary Wilkes, she was re-elected as Vice-Chairwoman of the Board.
