Candidate Filing Period for the 2018 Elections Begins Today
Updated With the FIrst Day Noon Rush




Several candidates arrived before noon to file for office this year. The list, along with photos are posted below:



Bryan Carpenter filed to run for Sheriff as an Unaffiliated candidate.


Robert Holland filed to run for Sheriff as a Republican candidate.


Todd Raby filed to run for Register of Deeds as a Democrat.


Kevin Corbin filed to run for NC House, District 120 as a Republican.


Gary Shields filed to run for County Commissioner, District II, as a Republican.


Vic Perry filed to run for Clerk of Superior Court as a Democrat.


Ronnie Beale filed to run for County Commissioner, District II, as a Democrat.

he 2018 candidate filing period opens up at noon today, February 12th, and closes at noon on Wednesday, February 28th. Local candidates who wish to file may do so at the local Board of Elections Office on the first floor of the Macon County Courthouse.

Offices open for election are:

US House District NC-11, currently held by Mark Meadows, Republican.

District Attorney District 30, currently held by Ashely Welch, Republican.

NC Senate District 50, currently held by Jim Davis, Republican.

NC House District 120, currently held by Kevin Corbin, Republican.

Macon County Commissioner, District 1, currently held by Jim Tate, Republican.

Macon County Commissioner, District 2, currently held by Ronnie Beale, Democrat.

Macon County Commissioner, District 2, currently held by Gary Shields, Republican.

Macon County Sheriff, currently held by Robbie Holland, Republican.

Register of Deeds, currently held by Todd Raby, Democrat.

Clerk of Superior Court, currently held by Vic Perry, Democrat.

Macon County Board of Education, District 2, currently held by Tommy Cabe.

Macon County Board of Education, District 4, currently held by Fred Goldsmith.


A later filing date for the Macon County Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor will open up on Monday, June 11th at noon and close at noon on Friday, July 6th.

Pamela Bell and James Roper currently hold the two seats up for election.

Macon Media will be posting occasional updates as people file for office over the next two weeks.
