NEWS BRIEF

Both the NC Senate and NC House voted to override the Governor's veto of legislation passed during the First Extra Session of the 2017-2018 Biennium of the North Carolina General Assembly. Macon MEdia will publish audio and documentation for the session later this week. [LINK]


LOCAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

A Bermuda high-pressure pattern should linger across the region through the early part of the week, allowing for seasonally warm temperatures and afternoon showers and thunderstorms. A cold front will eventually drop down across the region during the middle part of the week, and is expected to stall just to our south through late week. The front may return northward, along with increasing moisture, as a warm front next weekend.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

1. A non-tropical, surface low pressure system centered about 1200 miles southwest of the Azores is interacting with a broad upper-level low. Although thunderstorm activity has increased near and to the east of the low-level center, environmental conditions are expected to be only marginally conducive for the low to acquire subtropical or tropical characteristics while it moves little over the next day or so. By Monday afternoon, the low is expected to move toward the north or north-northeast and continue that motion through Tuesday.

* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent.
