Outlook

A broad area of cold and dry high pressure builds in and persists through the middle part of the week. By Thursday, a weak front will approach the mountains. Another storm system is expected to take shape late in the week, bringing another round of rain for Saturday and Sunday.

Testing a new feature that shows a forecast of precipitation, air pressure and thickness level (cold-air damming) for three days in six-hour increments.

Weather Hazards

Gusty west to northwest winds return tonight and continue into Wednesday. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph, with frequent gusts of 35 to 45 mph are again expected, while winds could gust as high as 60 mph on exposed high peaks and ridge tops. This combined with very cold temperatures will lead to below zero wind chill values, mainly over the higher elevations, early Wednesday.

FRANKLIN AREA FORECAST

Today

Mostly sunny, with a high near 40, but with the wind chill, it will feel like it is near freezing at times. Winds out of the northwest 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tonight

Mostly clear, with a low around 20 and wind chills in the upper teens. Winds out of the northwest around 10 mph. In the higher elevations, wind chills will be below zero at times overnight.

Wednesday

Sunny, with a high near 45. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday Night

Mostly clear, with a low in the lower 20s. Winds out of the northwest 3 to 5 mph.

Thursday

Mostly sunny, with a high near 55.

Thursday Night

A chance of showers between 10pm and 11pm, then a chance of rain after 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. Chance of precipitation is 40%.


OTTO AREA FORECAST

Today

Mostly sunny, with a high near 40 with wind chills making it feel like it is near freezing. Winds out of the northwest 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tonight

Mostly clear, with a low around 20 and wind chills in the teens. Winds out of the northwest around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Winds will be higher on the ridges, with wind chill values dropping below zero overnight.
