Outlook

A cold front with widespread rain is expected to arrive by Tuesday. High pressure will bring a return to near-normal temperatures and dry conditions for the middle part of the week. Model guidance hints at a storm system this weekend, but there continue to be large differences between model guidance on the forecast weather.

* WHAT...Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.

* WHERE...Swain, Haywood, Graham, Northern Jackson, Macon, Southern Jackson, and Transylvania Counties.

* WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 7 AM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A good amount of rainfall will accompany the strong winds...so weak or dead trees may become uprooted in saturated soils.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.
