Outlook

Behind weak front that crossed the area today, warm and dry high pressure will build back in through the weekend. A backdoor front will push in early Monday and may usher in slightly cooler temperatures for early next week.

Fatal Fire in Otto Community

A structure fire claimed the life of a Maconian yesterday morning. The local fire marshal's office published a press release about the incident:

Otto Fire and Rescue responded to a possible structure fire at 1364 South Tryphosa Road in Otto around 1:00 AM Thursday morning. The first firefighters on scene reported a singlewide mobile home fully involved in fire. One occupant was located deceased inside the structure. The name of the deceased has not been released. The investigation into the cause and origin of the fire is currently underway with assistance from the Macon County Fire Marshal's Office, the Macon County Sheriff's Department and the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation. Otto Fire and Rescue was assisted by departments from Clarks Chapel and Franklin along with Valley Fire Department from Rabun County. he N.C. For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Karen, located several hundred miles south-southeast of Bermuda, and on Hurricane Lorenzo, located over the central tropical Atlantic.

Tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 5 days.
