OUTLOOK

Weak high pressure persists over the southern Appalachians today. A passing upper-level disturbance will lead to an increase in showers and thunderstorms on Sunday. Unsettled weather will continue throughout next week as a back door front moves south into the region and stalls. Daily afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms will arise in the warm and humid airmass across the area.

The Governor Make Masks Mandatory

Governor Cooper has issued Executive Order 147, which extends Executive Order 141's Safer At Home restrictions and requires people, with some exceptions, to wear face coverings in public when social distancing is not possible. A copy of the executive order and the video briefing where he made the announcement are posted on Macon Media. [LINK]

The Macon County Board of Commissioners met on June 2nd. [LINK]

Winds out of the northwest 5 to 10 mph in the lower elevations and 10 to 15 mph in the higher elevations, with gusts as high as 20 in the lower elevations and 30 mph in the higher elevations. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
