High pressure will result in dry weather persisting over the area today. Moisture will begin increasing from the east tonight and then increase more abundantly from Wednesday through the upcoming weekend. This will lead to a steady uptick in shower and thunderstorm coverage across the region.

Mostly clear, with lows ranging from the upper 50s in the higher elevations to the lower 60s in the lower elevations. Light and variable winds.

Rain chances will increase into the afternoon hours, with the greatest chances being after 3pm. For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Paulette, located over the central tropical Atlantic, and on Tropical Storm Rene, located over the central Cabo Verde Islands.

1. An area of low pressure located about 250 miles west-southwest of Bermuda is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Some gradual development of this system is possible during the next few days while the low moves slowly westward to west-northwestward.

* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent.

2. A tropical wave is forecast to emerge off the west coast of Africa late Wednesday or Thursday. Gradual development is anticipated once the system moves over water, and a tropical depression could form late this week or over the weekend while the system moves generally westward across the eastern tropical Atlantic.

* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...medium...60 percent.
