Hazards and Tropical Weather

Hazardous weather is not expected today. A winter weather event is probably over the region this wseekend.

Snow is expected to develop across much of the southern Appalachians from late Saturday through Sunday night, with the best potential Saturday night into Sunday morning. Significant accumulations are possible, especially across the northern mountains and at the higher elevations above about 3500 feet.

Here are some probabilistic forecasts from the National Weather Service. Each map is labeled. The first map is what the National Weather thinks we'll get. The purpose of these experimental probabilistic snowfall products is to provide customers and partners a range of snowfall possibilities, in complement to existing NWS deterministic snowfall graphics, to better communicate forecast uncertainties during winter weather events.
