GENERAL OUTLOOK

Mild and dry high pressure will dominate the weather pattern today. Rain chances return Wednesday and Thursday as a cold front approaches from the west. The front will cross the area Thursday night, followed by dry high pressure that settles over the region by early Saturday.

Saturday March 4th chilli cook off at the community building 2 to 4pm. $5 entry fee to come in and taste chilli and vote for your favorite. All proceeds go to helping a child go to gymnastics camp this summer with her team mates.

Nantahala School will be operating on a two-hour delay today, Monday, February 13th, 2023. The transportation team will evaluate the roads in the morning. If there is not an all-call or social media notification before 9:00, then school will open at 10:00. Remember, with a 10:00 start everything is moved forward 2 hours. Tuesday, February 21st Maiden's Chapel Church (located at 230 Maiden's Chapel Road) will host a pancake supper on Tuesday, February 21st from 5-7 p.m. Donations will be accepted for the church. 2011 – For the first time in more than 100 years the Umatilla, an American Indian tribe, are able to hunt and harvest a bison just outside Yellowstone National Park, restoring a centuries-old tradition guaranteed by a treaty signed in 1855.

2012 – The European Space Agency (ESA) conducted the first launch of the European Vega rocket from Europe's spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana.

2017 – Kim Jong-nam, brother of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un, is assassinated at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

2021 – Former U.S. President Donald Trump is acquitted in his second impeachment trial. 2021 – A major winter storm causes blackouts and kills at least 82 people in Texas and northern Mexico.
