Hazards

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for an area that includes Macon County. Most of the rainfall should be to our south, or at least the higher amounts will be in the southernmost reaches of the county. The high winds should start impacting Macon County around 5am and continue through 8pm this evening.

An area of low pressure will bring heavy rainfall to the area Christmas Day and into Tuesday morning with heavier amounts along the Blue Ridge Escarpment. Isolated flooding will be possible where higher rain amounts occur. Winds across the higher elevations could reach 25-30 mph with gusts of 40 mph likely. Gusty winds could cause isolated downed trees and power lines, mainly on Monday.
