HAZARDOUS WEATHER

Heat Advisories may be needed for portions of the area Monday through Wednesday if forecast trends hold.

A heatwave will develop next week bringing hot and humid conditions. Highs each afternoon will climb into the mid to upper 90s with heat indices ranging from the upper 90s to lower 100s. Locations east of the mountains may see heat indices reach near Heat Advisory Criteria each afternoon. Muggy conditions can be expected each night.

You can protect yourself from the heat by drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated, wearing loose-fitting, light colored clothing, and staying indoors in air conditioning when possible. If you have to work outside, take regular breaks in the shade and monitor for signs of heat illness. Make sure to check on those who are most vulnerable to the heat. Never leave people or pets alone in a locked car.
