GENERAL OUTLOOK
Typical hot and humid summertime weather will persist through today, but a brief break is on its way for the middle part of the week. A weak cold front will slowly cross the area late tonight into Tuesday. Behind that front, high pressure to the north could bring temperatures closer to normal for Wednesday and maybe Thursday. The hot weather will return by the weekend.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER
Numerous thunderstorms are expected to develop across the mountains and foothills of the Carolinas and northeast Georgia this afternoon and evening. One or two strong to severe storms are possible. Damaging wind gusts are the main hazard with any severe storms that manage to develop. Additionally, locally heavy rainfall may lead to localized flash flooding, mainly in low-lying, poor drainage, and urban areas.
Daily chances for storms will continue into early next week, with some storms capable of producing strong wind gusts and localized flooding. Areas that have received excessive rainfall over the past few days will continue to be at risk for flash flooding through at least this evening.
