HAZARDOUS WEATHER

Numerous thunderstorms are expected to develop across the mountains and foothills of the Carolinas and northeast Georgia this afternoon and evening. One or two strong to severe storms are possible. Damaging wind gusts are the main hazard with any severe storms that manage to develop. Additionally, locally heavy rainfall may lead to localized flash flooding, mainly in low-lying, poor drainage, and urban areas.

Daily chances for storms will continue into early next week, with some storms capable of producing strong wind gusts and localized flooding. Areas that have received excessive rainfall over the past few days will continue to be at risk for flash flooding through at least this evening.
