I had some free time today, and wandered over to the Maggie Valley Town Hall to see how the voter turnout was, and found that as of 11ish am, there had been a little over 80 voters show up. Counted with about 120 absentee ballots, that puts the running talley 18 percent of registered voters. The general mood was that the final talley would be around 25 to 30 percent.

I thought one of the requirements to be a U.S. Citizen was proficiency in English?
I drove by a few other polling places in Haywood and Jackson Counties, and the picture was pretty much the same...anywhere between 15 and 25 percent was the expected turnout, with half that total having already voted by mid-day.
