Ron Paul Bots Attempt Takeover of Internet

No, not really...but we know it is only a matter of time before they try!

Wow, what a shock. All the online poll spamming in favor of Ron Paul is the result of a online bot and not real actual supporters?

I'm sure the paultards are going to reject this out of hand, "they told us this would happen," is something I hear allot from the paultards when confronted with some horrible truth about "the savior of the constitution."

This from Wired, "If Texas congressman Ron Paul is elected president in 2008, he may be the first leader of the free world put into power with the help of a global network of hacked PCs spewing spam, according to computer-security researchers who've analyzed a recent flurry of e-mail supporting the long-shot Republican candidate.
"This is clearly a criminal act in support of a campaign, which has been committed with or without their knowledge," says Gary Warner, the University of Alabama at Birmingham's director of research in computer forensics. "The question is, will we see more and more of this, or will this bring shame to the campaigns and will they make clear that this is not a form of acceptable behavior by their supporters?" Warner pointed to provisions of the federal Can-Spam Act.
Ron Paul spokesman Jesse Benton says the campaign has no knowledge of the scam. Warner himself says that he has no reason to believe that the Paul campaign had anything to do with these messages.
Some participants in the online political world have long suspected Paul's technically sophisticated fan base of manipulating online tools and polls to boost the appearance of a wide base of support. But the UAB analysis is the first to document any internet shenanigans.

Commentary

I have noted it here and in several online forums about the Ronbots gaming Internet Polls. Now, with this revelation, I suspect that a lot his supporters haven't been leaving the basement when their mothers call them to supper.

**Update** Rick Moran has an excellent piece at American Thinker that covers some of the same ground, and more, much more eloquently than me. I will direct you to Stix Blog to read it.

How to Whip This Ron Paul Character and All His Whacky Followers.

Ron Paul can be defeated by ignorance. Ignore him if you can.
By lies. Misrepresent his positions whenever possible.
By word gaming. As Lenin advised, “First, confuse the vocabulary.”
By contempt. Dismiss him as amusing and pathetic.
By smearing his supporters. Find the worst and spotlight them. Call them a cult.
By consensus. Dismiss him with peer-pressure ridicule.
By false accusations. Spread them quickly and far.
By never discussing his policies. Change the subject to his person.
By the polls. Ask the right people the right questions and get the answer you want.
By reporting his most unpopular votes. But don’t report his reasoning.
By rudeness. Wreck any debate where his ideas are winning.
With all these tools, he can be easily defeated. Use them generously.

But Ron Paul cannot be defeated by refuting him in an honest and courteous technical debate. Avoid that.

Okay, disinter:

Let us see if you are a drive-by poster as referenced in the post...if you even read it.

I have posted on Ron Paul's Policies point-by-point, and noted where I agreed and where I disagreed...and most importantly...why I cannot support his candidacy.
His non-support on the war makes him a political opponent.

At least I can look forward to posting a Happy Dance on my blogs when he loses the upcoming primaries!!! I might even sing!

Ron Paul Campaign Under Cyber Attack

There has been a recent flurry of news articles that have made the conjecture that the Ron Paul campaign or his supporters are in possession of a botnet and are using it to generate spam emails for the candidate. I have been in the business of computer technology for a long time and have good friends in the IT security business and we have discussed this at length. Cui-bono (who benefits)

I find it far more likely that this botnet spam attack is not the design of the Paul campaign or any of its supporters. It is far more likely that this is the release of a first round of direct cyber attack against the Ron Paul campaign. I base this opinion on the fact that the attack is becoming clearly targeted at the youtube videos of Ron Paul. Youtube links to his videos are beginning to be inserted into the the body of these spam message and as a direct result the video's are being pulled by youtube for violation of their terms of use policy.

This attack method can do far more harm than good for the Ron Paul campaign so I will make a guess that this is the work of those in the NSA using cyber war tactics out of loyalty or possibly under orders to use this stealth attack method to derail the Ron Paul campaign by using the campaign's online strength against them.

I expect that after these attackers have used this method to remove the best google and youtube videos touting the Ron Paul campaign, that the attack method will change and will then go after other key components of the campaign's online strength such as the Web 2.0 communities. These utilities will likely be spammed and the organizations using the applications will be banned from their use.

This is nefarious and demonstrates the kind of tactics that the establishment could use to serve their interest in stopping the advance of Ron Paul and the Revolution for freedom that he is leading as well as his Presidential bid. I can only hope that the Ron Paul online army has some equally talented cyber warriors that can help stop this attack before it is ramped up even further.

Anon: You sir, are a fraud. Did you not read the article and follow the posts? I myself have linked to groups plotting to game the polls, and have (incognito) attended Ron Paul Meetups to gather info on his supporters. I felt pity for them, and their conspiracy theories that have strangled reason.

An attack presupposes he is a threat to win. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Google the following words:
Slate Prediction Market Republican and Ron Paul...and you will see that he is waaaay back in the pack of people willing to put their money where their mouths are!!!

Strangely, this spambot was able to create over 1,000 meetup groups composed of over 55,000 other spambots and won not only the vast majority of online polls, but the majority of all straw polls for Ron Paul. Most bizarre, however, is the fact that this robot managed to spam more than $2.6 million to the Ron Paul campaign in the month of October alone.

Maybe the other candidates need to look into getting one of these ‘robots’.

Aloha Steve:

Um...okay, except your blogger profile is bogus. I appreciate the ironic spam!

Another person who didn't read the article, nor followed the links in said article.

Refute them point-by-point, not with a wave of the hand.

I myself have attended meetups where attendees were told how to find out where the online polls were, and how to get the word out so more Ron Paul supporters could take the poll.

Anon 1488:

I guess you must be one of the White Supremacists supporting Ron Paul for President. You should know I dislike your kind even worse than the Jihadis. Methinks that you would use the military to get rid of your opponents.

i KNEW my bot application would work, i just KNEW it! LOL! 8-)

Tim Peck:

I'll look at it Monday...I can't watch videos from home because I am on dial-up, and do not plan on going out this weekend because I am working the UK Desk again.
