PRESS RELEASE MURPHY, N.C., March 29, 2016 -- The U.S. Forest Service plans to conduct a 1,700 acre prescribed burn in the Nantahala National Forest on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. Brushfire on Sandwood Drive

At about 2:48 pm on March 24,. 2016, Franklin Police reported a brush fire on Sandwood Drive with a shed and a residence in danger. Franklin Fire Department and the North Carolina Forest Service were dispatched and Cullasaja and Mountain Valley Fire Departments were sent to provide mutual aid.
