A Benefit Car Show for Operation Christmas Child, Western North Carolina, will be held Saturday, April 2nd from 8 am to 3 pm at Franklin High School parking lot, by football field. Guests are requested to bring donations for the shoeboxes: pencils, crayons, combs, toothpaste/toothbrushes, etc. or cash. All proceeds are going to Operation Christmas Child.
Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse that delivers millions of gift-filled shoeboxes to children affected by war, natural disasters, disease, famine, poverty, and persecution in more than 100 countries worldwide. In 2015 Western North Carolina counties, which are Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Jackson, Macon and Swain counties, collected over 17,400 shoeboxes. They include items like toys, school supplies and hygiene items, creating gifts that can make a significant difference in the lives of hurting children around the world, for many of the children, these shoeboxes will be the first gift they have ever received. With a computer or mobile device, anyone can conveniently pack a personalized Operation Christmas Child shoebox gift on the Samaritan’s Purse website year-round. Go to samaritanspurse.org/occ to select toys and gift items, write a note of encouragement and “pack” them in a shoebox. After the shoebox is packed and sent by the Operation Christmas Child team, participants can discover where in the world their gifts will be delivered.
