A wedge of high pressure air will bring cooler temperatures to the area today, with much cooler and wetter weather expected Tuesday and Wednesday as a strong, slow-moving frontal system impacts the area. Brief drying and warming occurs Thursday into Friday before another strong storm system impacts the region over the weekend.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER
An active weather period is expected tonight through Thursday as several rounds of rainfall are expected to impact the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia. Heavy rainfall is likely Tuesday into Tuesday night, with isolated nuisance flooding possible, especially across the southwest North Carolina mountains, northeast Georgia, and western Upstate South Carolina. Another round of heavy rainfall is possible Wednesday evening into Thursday morning as a slow-moving cold front enters the area. This rainfall on top of wet antecedent conditions may result in nuisance to minor stream flooding.
