Macon Media Communications Plan During Eclipse

Out of an abundance of caution, here is a list of platforms Macon Media will use if Facebook goes down this weekend or on Monday due to increased internet traffic, with the platforms listed in order of personal preference.

Macon Media (the old page)
fb.com/MaconCoMedia

2. Website

Solar Eclipse Traffic (1st backup, will allow detailed posting)

Macon Media (regular posts; 2nd backup)
MaconMedia.com

3. Twitter (limited by 140 characters; will allow livestreaming via Periscope)

twiiter.com/WNCscan
twitter.com/MaconMedia
4. Google Plus

WNCscan
plus.google.com/b/112483742818260664333/

Macon Media (autopublishes from MaconMedia.com)

5. Periscope (live video)

Also, you can listen to public safety radio traffic at the following locations. via Broadcastify, which is also available as an app for your mobile devices. Just be aware that these feeds are being run by a person associated with local government, so if their bosses tell them to pull the plug, the feeds will be gone.

Macon County Fire
http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/23557/web

Macon County EMS
http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/23904/web

Unfortunately, I have been unable to get the public safety feed back up so far.

PS --Of course, if the internet goes belly up, there will be no way (at this time, at least) for Macon Media to pass along the news until access to the internet is restored. is restored. In a year's time there will be an alternate communications path established within at least the downtown area that can be expanded.

END UPDATE
