A Christian Responds

I have nothing against anyone from another faith praying, so long as they are not doing so representing the people of this nation. Congress is supposed to represent us! Were the majority of the people in our country to be of a certain faith and elect representatives of that faith, I could understand an opening prayer in that faith, as that would have been representative of the population- even if it is not in line with my own beliefs- but for no other reason. To do so without that condition of representing being met, is to be a traitor to the duties of and definition of representation.

To cover it up with some stereotypical plattitude- and a false one at that- adds insult to injury.

The protestors had every right to voice their opinion and they should also be willing to pay the penalty for violating the regulation, law, or sense of decorum...just like Ghandi and his followers were willing to be arrested and/or killed for violating British law in India.

Progressives are all for protest, as long as you aren't protesting something they agree with. I can bet that most of the "progressive" blogs who supported and cheered other interruptions of Senate or House proceedings, had something snarky to say about this event.

What made me ROTFLMAO was Senator Reid referencing Hinduism as a peaceful religion. Guess the idiot doesn't pay attention to the news. There is an awful lot of persecution of other religions by Hindus in India, just ask the Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, and others.

TP,

It's a little disingenuous to point out violent Hindus without mentioning thousands of years of violent Christians, isn't it?

I was providing counter point to Senator Harry Reid's lie about Hinduism being a peaceful religion.

Show me a violent Christian, and I'll show you a Liar. (For claiming to be a Christian)

I'll re-iterate for you:
Anyone who claims there is more than one path to salvation (or mediator between man and God) by definition cannot be a Christian. This includes many hundreds of millions who claim to be Christian, and are not. Christ Himself told us the path was narrow, and few would make it to the end.

It's very telling how the 'tolerant' quickly become intolerant when confronted with truth.

You can believe whatever you want, but our nation has a basis in freedom of religion. I don't care if you worship a tripartite sky god or a slice of bread. As long as you keep it off my lawn, we're going to be all right. The People's House can represent all the people, though I'd rather see no religious invocations at all in that secular body.

There's no place for religious exclusivity in the legislative branch.
