Johann Sebastian Bach was one of the greatest composers of music who ever lived. He composed during the Baroque Period of classical music and I particularly enjoy his compositions for the Harpsichord. His Brandenburg Concertos and the Goldberg Variations are among the greatest musical works ever composed in any musical era. Three selections of his work were included on the Voyager Probe music CD to represent the music of earth, more than any other composer. They were: #1--the Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 in F. First Movement, Munich Bach Orchestra, Karl Richter, conductor; #2--"Gavotte en rondeaux" from the Partita No. 3 in E major for Violin, performed by Arthur Grumiaux; #3--The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 2, Prelude and Fugue in C, No.1. Glenn Gould, piano.
