GENERAL OUTLOOK
Cold and dry high pressure builds in today through Thursday, keeping temperatures well below normal. An area of low pressure will form near the Texas coast early Thursday and track toward the Carolinas, spreading moisture into the region Friday into Saturday.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER
A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6am this morning. Wind chills will be below zero this morning and in the upper single digits and mid teens during the day today. Other than that, there are no hazardous weather conditions expected in Macon County today. Some roads may be slick. Nantahala School is closed today and Franklin area schools and Highlands School are on a three hour delay today.
There is some potential for wintry precipitation across the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia late Friday through early Saturday. There is still a lot of uncertainty on the specific precipitation types and accumulations.
