Daily Weather Briefing for Saturday, April 11, 2020








OUTLOOK

Cool and very dry high pressure will be moving off the Carolina coast by late Saturday. A strong storm system will move across the Southern states this weekend. It is expected to produce heavy rainfall in our area beginning Easter Sunday, which could lead to flooding, and possibly a round of severe weather late Sunday into early Monday. Cooler and quieter weather will return Monday night.

INCREASED FIRE DANGER

elative humidity values will be below 30% from around noon to around 5pm. It will be unsafe to do any outdoor burning.

BURN BAN

A ban on open burning in the 32 western counties of North Carolina is in effect until further notice. [LINK]



GENERAL FORECAST THROUGH MONDAY



Today [INCREASED FIRE DANGER DUE TO LOW HUMIDITY]

Sunny. Highs ranging from the lower 60s to the upper 60s. Winds out of the northeast around 5 mph in the morning and shifting to come out of the southwest in the afternoon.

Tonight

Partly cloudy. Not as cool as last night, with lows ranging from the mid-40s tot he lower 40s. Winds out of the south 5 to 10 mph.

Easter Sunday [SEVERE STORMS AND HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLE]

Showers in the morning then showers with a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 60s. WInds out of the southeast 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain near 100 percent.

Sunday Night [SEVERE STORMS AND HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLE]

Showers. A chance of thunderstorms in the evening, then thunderstorms likely after midnight. Locally heavy rainfall is possible. Windy. Near steady temperatures in the mid-to-upper 50s. Winds out of the south 15 to 25 mph. Gusts up to 35 mph, increasing to 45 mph after midnight. Chance of rain near 100 percent. Rainfall amounts could total 1 to 2 inches.

Monday

Mostly sunny. Showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms in the morning. Locally heavy rainfall possible in the morning. Breezy with highs in the 60s. Winds out of the west 15 to 20 mph. Gusts up to 40 mph, decreasing to 30 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 60 percent.

Monday Night

Partly cloudy. Cooler with lows ranging from the mid-30s to the mid-40s.
