AM COVID-19 Update





Macon Media is experimenting with a new layout for the daily weather and AM COVID-19 Update.

OUTLOOK

High pressure will weaken and move off the Atlantic coast today, while a strong frontal system advances toward the region tonight. This system will bring a good amount of rainfall and thunderstorms on Thursday before dry high pressure builds back on Friday. Another storm system will impact the county on Saturday.

Friday

Mostly sunny. A chance of showers in the morning. Highs in the 60s. Winds out of the northwest 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent.

Friday Night

Mostly clear in the evening, then mostly cloudy with a chance of showers after midnight. Lows in the 40s. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Hazards

We are under a frost advisory until 10am this morning. Other than that, there are no weather hazards expected for today. A storm system will be moving through the area from tonight through late Thursday. Some thunderstorm activity and a couple inches of rain are possible.

* IMPACTS...Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered.

The CDC website [LINK] reports 6,493 people in North Carolina are infected and that the infections are widespread, the NCDHHS website [LINK] reports 6,951 confirmed cases, 427 hospitalized and 213 deaths in the state. The Johns Hopkins Dashboard [LINK] reports 6,979 people infected and 220 deaths (these include non-residents located in NC).
