According to the Asheville Citizen-Times, The George Soros-funded Liberal Group will
be manning the phones to get out the vote for Heath Shuler in
his bid to oust Congressman Charles Taylor:

Activist group busy
with support for Shuler

ASHEVILLE — From a rented downtown storefront, scores of
volunteers with the liberal activist group MoveOn.org are
making thousands of phone calls in support of a Democratic
House candidate who opposes abortion and supports gun rights.
They may not agree with Heath Shuler, the former NFL
quarterback trying to unseat veteran GOP Rep. Charles Taylor in
Tuesday’s election. But with conditions apparently ripe for a
Democratic takeover of Congress, liberals here and throughout
the area say they would rather see Taylor out of office than
quibble over Shuler’s moderate stances.
“I think that we
would prefer that he had a different opinion, but he doesn’t
and we’re not going to change that,” said Judy Fore, head of the
“Democrats on the Move” group in Black Mountain.
Shuler
spoke to Fore’s group over the summer and had a heated exchange
on abortion with one female member, Fore recalled.
“He was
just sort of early on in his whole process and I think he had
not encountered people who have very strong issues (with
abortion) like this group,” Fore said.
Shuler has long
been to the right of many Democrats. In 2001, while running a
real-estate brokerage in Knoxville, Tenn., the GOP tried to
recruit the former starting quarterback at the University of
Tennessee to run for Congress as a Republican in the Volunteer state.
It's gonna come down to the wire on this one folks, and
according to the National Weather Service, rain is on the way,
which tends to depress Democratic voting than Republican.
2.5% versus 1% according to some Talking Head on XM121. I was
busy compiling a database, so I didn't catch the name.
I can sense the possibility of a real surprise in the U.S. House
Races, not quite as much as the '94 Revolution, but I think it
may be possible for the Republicans to actually gain. (Perhaps
I am delusional in this thought)Below is part of a page I copied
and pasted from Real Clear Politics.
Take a look and follow the link. I had not realized Congressman
Taylor's numbers were that bad. If you go to the page and click
on his name, you'll get a more in-depth look (not by much) that,
despite a 9 point lead by Shuler, the race is still a toss up,
and turn out will be the deciding factor. I've heard from
various poll workers that the early voting was more republican
than democratic by significant margins. I know just about all
the senior citizens in my family have voted, and they are three-
quarter republican.
So, at this point,
the democrats are playing catchup, and in the rain, no less.
