...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO MIDNIGHT EST
FRIDAY NIGHT...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG HAS ISSUED
A WIND ADVISORY FOR MOST OF THE NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS...WHICH
IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO MIDNIGHT EST FRIDAY NIGHT.
A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL APPROACH THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTH CAROLINA
LATE TONIGHT AND WILL PUSH EAST ON FRIDAY MORNING. WINDS WILL
INCREASE AHEAD OF THE FRONT AFTER MIDNIGHT AND COULD GUST UP INTO
THE 40 TO 50 MPH RANGE AT ELEVATIONS ABOVE 4000 FEET BY DAYBREAK.
AS THE FRONT PASSES IN THE MORNING...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
ASSOCIATED WITH THE FRONT SHOULD BRING A FEW WIND GUSTS OF 50 MPH
DOWN TO THE SURFACE. THE WIND WILL SHIFT TO THE WEST AND NORTHWEST
BEHIND THE FRONT IN THE AFTERNOON...AND WILL GRADUALLY WEAKEN ON
FRIDAY EVENING. UNTIL THAT HAPPENS...ADDITIONAL STRONG WIND GUSTS
AROUND 50 MPH ARE EXPECTED...MAINLY AT THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS.
A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT WIND GUSTS OF 50 MPH ARE EXPECTED.
WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH
PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION.
