The Complete "Baby Wipe Bill" Discussion on H1384 from the North Carolina House of Representatives on Bill Crossover Day

This was a bill born from people who have no concept for personal responsibility and a desire to control every aspect of our lives, even when we are in public shopping for our groceries.

The purpose of the bill was stated as follows:

(a) The purpose of this section is to protect consumers from shopping cart handles that may be contaminated with bodily fluids, including blood, saliva, mucus, and urine, and fecal matter, by encouraging that the means to disinfect or sanitize nonporous surfaces on shopping carts be provided to the public.


Why focus on just shopping carts? As one gentleman pointed out, the money we use to purchase groceries is exposed to germs, as are many other surfaces.

I am truly surprised that this bill made it out of committee. I am just as surprised that enough of our elected representatives recognized that idiocy and intrusiveness of the bill and mocked it thoroughly before killing it.
