OUTLOOK

A slow moving cold front is expected to move across the region today providing a focus for additional showers and storms. The front should move off to the east tonight, followed by dry air moving in from the west on Friday. High pressure moving past to the north should control our weather for most of the weekend.

Otherwise, partly sunny, with highs ranging from the upper 60s in the the higher elevations and the mid-70s in the lower elevations. Calm winds in the morning increasing to come out of the northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

The Flood Watch continues for portions of northeast Georgia...North Carolina and upstate South Carolina through this evening

* Scattered heavy downpours will continue this morning across the mountains and adjacent foothills, then shift to the Piedmont through at least midday.

* Creeks and streams may come out of their banks and quickly flood roadways. Some roads could become impassable. Business and homes in low-lying flood prone areas could become flooded.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. Please monitor the latest forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Eta, located northwest of Tampa, Florida, and on Tropical Storm Theta, located over the eastern Atlantic.

1. A tropical wave located over the central Caribbean Sea continues to produce a large area of showers and thunderstorms. Satellite imagery indicates that the disturbance is gradually becoming better organized, and a tropical depression will likely form during the next 2 to 3 days as it moves slowly westward over the central and western Caribbean Sea. Regardless of development, this system is expected to bring heavy rainfall along with possible flash flooding to the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and portions of Hispaniola over the next day or so. For more detailed information, refer to products issued by your local weather office.
