OUTLOOK

An upper disturbance will move east of the area today. Dry Highs pressure will then briefly return through tonight. A strong Lows pressure system approaching from the southwest may support a threat for heavy rainfall from late Sunday into early Monday. Northwest fLows snow is expected to develop across the mountains in the storm`s wake from late Monday through Tuesday. Another strong Lows may cross the region at the end of the week.

A vigorous upper low will cross the Carolinas and northeast Georgia early next week. Prolonged northwest flow snow will set up in the low`s wake late Monday into Tuesday. Snow accumulations are possible, mainly at elevations above 3500 feet and near the Tennessee border.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

1. A non-tropical low pressure system located about 600 miles southeast of Bermuda is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms, mainly to the north and east of the center. Environmental conditions are expected to be only marginally conducive for development this weekend as the low moves northeastward ahead of an approaching frontal system. By early next week, the system is expected to become absorbed by this frontal system over the north-central Atlantic.

* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...30 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...30 percent.

2. A non-tropical low pressure system has formed over the far eastern Atlantic. This system is expected to move southward about midway between Portugal and the Azores over the weekend. Environmental conditions are forecast to be marginally conducive for the low to acquire subtropical characteristics early next week while it meanders just to the north of the Canary Islands. Additional information on this system can be found in high seas forecasts issued by Meteo France.
