I don't hardly know what to think about the vicious nature of NC House District #116 Charles Thomas' attack on his fellow Republican, Dr. Carl Mumpower, after yesterday's debate between Carl Mumpower and Congressman Heath Shuler on WWNC-AM yesterday.
I first noticed a viciousness in Thomas during the Republican primary, when he was a supporter of Governor Mike Huckabee. We are in a few of the same Yahoo! Groups, and I was surprised at the level of hatred he seemed to exhibite toward Governor Mitt Romney in several emails. Well, you know, we can all get carried away by the heat of battle to support our man. It happens to most of us.
My second notice was his statement during the Gas Crunch that threatened action against local businesses. I thought that was funny, because it was the government that he served in that caused the problem to get so bad in the fist place...with passage and enforcement of a bogus "price-gouging" law. There is no such thing, at least to capitalists...however, it is part of the Holy Sacrament of Socialism that price gouging exists, and that prices must be controlled by he heavy hand of government action.
Then, there was yesterday. I'll let you listen to the audio.
Methinks Charles Thomas doth protest too much at the word socialism. I suggest that he take a good, long hard look at himself in the mirror.
It is a very good thing that he is not running for re-election.

Charles Thomas is a principled person who's won the respect of Republicans and Democrats alike. Understand that jettisoning your fellow Republicans when they hold one of your own accountable just aligns you with the fringe.
The truth is never fringe.
So according to Screwy Hoolie, if a Republican supports his candidate, he's principled, and earned the respect of both parties. Huh! So on the other hand, if Thomas adamantly DISAGREED with his Democrat candidate on policy and philosophy, then no doubt he would be a partisan pariah, not worthy of holding office. LOL!
Hummm! Seems to me that having the endorsement of a flaming, Marxist, Leftists like Gordon Smith, and the Hooligans would be a detriment to any self respecting Republican like Charles Thomas. I believe an endorsement from that Leftist fringe element of the political spectrum says principles and convictions do not matter. We'll all just go along, to get along. And be just one big happy Demo-publican family. No wonder people say there's no difference between the Parties. As I've always said, there are Republicans, and then there are principled Conservatives. I believe we know which one Charles Thomas is.

As to Charles Thomas - when John McCain goes against Bush (rarely - but it happens) - you call him a Maverick! Palin as well. Maverick!

And, lastly Kathy, I'm not any more a Marxist than Bill Gates. I'm center-left. Most of my friends are more liberal than I am. You've been so far right, it all looks left to you.

Mumpower has made a sport of attacking Republicans... Bush, Dole, Burr, Taylor et al. Yet you defend "Crazy Carl"..... sad.

Charles Thomas is a Rerpublican that gets along with progressives, and understands that the government must curtail corporate greed and force businesses to provide products ina timely manner.

Great points here - I for one know of one man who has the principles of their party first & its not Charles Thomas - it is Carl Mumpower.
Now as far as Gordon Smith goes, I dont address him directly due to the lies he made about the "D" fourm up on Ox Creek. When a person can lie when they know you have it on video tape eludes myself.
I dont spend time on the hooligans however that term is not copyright so it may appear anywere I feel it will fit.
C.Thomas was wrong, Shuler was a laughing joke in the press box at wwnc radio - just ask anyone who was their.

Actually, I hardly ever think about you one way or the other. Except knowing just how ignorant you and most of the other progressives are concerning the principles and precepts of the Constitution, which I find extremely dangerous to our Democratic Republic.

I sir, have never called McCain a Maverick. In fact I despise the term. I feel it was a mistake for Carl to use it. And As far as I'm concerned Mr McCain can take a long walk off a short pier. I think you've got me confused with "Republicans." Conservative and Republican are not necessarily the same thing.

This center left nonsense, is a joke. And certainly doesn't stop you from supporting the most radical, liberal and Marxist Presidential candidate America has ever seen. So please spare me the fallacious smoke screen of espousing a "center" left moderate political stance. Your political alliances and candidate support speaks for itself.
This country is center right to far right. Which is what middle America is. God, Guns, Country and Apple Pie. We see proof of that by the popularity, and ratings of Conservative talk radio, and Fox News. Liberal talk radio has proven it can not compete in the market place of ideas, nor in the Free Market system. As we see with the failure of liberal talk radio, and Air America. I never lied about that. But you've been petulant ever since I pointed out that calling the Dem debates "scripted" was functionally incorrect. Aside from four prepared questions at one primary debate out of five, they were all audience participation.
Them's the facts, so I really don't know what idea in your head you're reacting to.
We could get a lot of good work done together if you'd get over yourself.
