Area Manufacturers Withdraw Mumpower Invite

The Manufacturers Executive Association of Western North Carolina has a bone to pick with NC 11th District Republican Congressional candidate Carl Mumpower. But they don't want to chew on it’s face to face.

"regarding the immigration issues and policies in this country and its affect on local manufactures", said President Jeff "The Executive Board of the MEA regrets to inform you that we have voted to rescind our recent invitation to an open discussion and dialog with the general membership of the MEAImes and Vice-President Andrew Nagle. "Based upon your recent public comments and press releases on the issue of immigration, you appear to be firmly entrenched in your view without any reasonable chance of enlightening you on the issues."

Mumpower has taken recent heat for reporting Mills Manufacturing, Plasticard Locktech, Nypro, Sonopress, Plastiform and other area manufactures to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The Asheville City Councilman takes information he receives from company employees and others and passes it on directly. He first requests a personal meeting with company representatives and avoids specific accusations or claims on the accuracy of the information he has received. "It is the job of ICE and employers to confirm or discredit information on a company's hiring of illegal workers," said Mumpower.

Commentary

I have been so busy lately, I missed this development, and wish to correct that oversight now.

If enough of us remained concerned long enough to keep on these companies...their tune would change. If you of a mind to do so, please contact these companies and board members to let them know of your displeasure with their choice...and be polite about it.

If anyone would like to organize a public protest near company property of members of this association, let me know, and we will get the ball rolling.

I found a website for these industries that are apparently so willing to hire illegal aliens, and protect their cheap labor force...that they do not want ill publicity.
