Million Gun March on DC Planned for 2010

I kid you not!!!

I imagine that this would not be a good idea while we have a Marxist President in office, and has a least one gun enthusiast forum has banned all talk of the march.

I would be inclined to join such a march despite the fact that I think it could only end badly. At least (this time) I would be in DC openly armed and with ample ammunition. My only consideration for my choice of carry would be Rate of Fire vs. Knock Down Capability. I'd have to go with knock down power since rate of fire would be covered by others present.

I seriously doubt this thing will happen.

Here is more information, starting with the original email that tipped me off to this thing...

The Million Gun March on Washington DC

Good information to pass on to the sleeping public. Redistribute as
you are the Digital Pony Express.

(ITEM 1)

One million plus angry Americans all carrying rifles and sidearms, hell
bent on preserving the people's right to keep and bare arms. An ocean of
people packing heat.

With a million gun march, what can the police do? This is a family event, a
peaceful stroll in Washington DC.

A simple walk whilst bearing arms.

Ted Nugent has thrown in his support so break out your AR15 assult rifle.

It's almost time to storm the gates.

I did a little checking, and the website for the event is currently down, and this is what I found in the Google Cache:

Announcement: Ted Nugent Lends Support to Second Amendment March!

Ted Nugent Desires to Speak and Play at the Second Amendment March in Spring 2010!
The Second Amendment March is proud to announce that rock-n-roll legend and Second Amendment Activist Ted Nugent has enthusiastically agreed to perform and speak at the Second Amendment March in Spring 2010, provided the logistics can be worked out! In a conversation just this morning to event founder and promoter, Skip Coryell, Ted Nugent said:
"Goodstuff Skip. If you are so inclined, you may throw the Nuge rocketfuel on the fire by emphasizing my personal total support as an individual and as a BOD of NRA & GOA! ONWARD!"
Well, Ted, let me think about it. Okay! Done thinking! You're in and we'll do our best to make it happen! When I pressed him to bring his guitar, Ted replied:
"It would not be a complete freedom rally without my firebreathing Star Spangled Banner eruption!"
We look forward to Ted's performance and thank him for his support in lending us his voice, his guitar and his tremendous starpower! God bless the Nuge!

It's Time Our Voices Are Heard!

Welcome to the Second Amendment March - we are thrilled that you are here! The response to this event has been overwhelming thanks to freedom-minded individuals like you.

Since the announcement of this event only a few days ago, we have received hundreds of emails of encouragement and support. We wanted to get this site up as soon as possible to greet fellow Second Amendment supporters.

Why are we doing this? Here are a few quotes that we think sum it up pretty well:

"We on this continent should never forget that men first crossed the Atlantic not to find soil for their ploughs but to secure liberty for their souls." ~Robert J. McCracken

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." ~Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759

"Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. . . Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them." -- Thomas Paine, Thoughts On Defensive War, 1775

So there you have it.

Every soul yearns for freedom, and we will not let that freedom be denied.

Our Mission...

The mission of the Second Amendment March is to galvanize the courage and resolve of American gun owners; to petition our elected officials against establishing anti-gun legislation; and to remind America that the Second Amendment is necessary to maintain our right to self defense.

It is the one right that protects
all others.

We will accomplish our mission by a centralized, peaceful march on the United States Capitol, supported by satellite marches to State Capitols and smaller cities all across America.
