The 14th Annual A Taste of Scotland Festival is Next Weekend,
Photos From Past Festivals

A Scottish Foods Vendor at the A Taste of Scotland Festival in Franklin, NC

One of my favorite festivals is next Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Franklin, NC. It is called A Taste of Scotland and has something to offer every member of the family. The festival website is a wealth of information regarding this festival, and the activities planned for this year.

This year's schedule of activities is larger than in in previous years and promises to be the best yet. There will be symposiums on the history of Scots in America, A shortbread contest and a Celidh [party] on Friday.

On Saturday, there will be too much going on for me to give it justice in a few sentences. An overview of the activities is on the festival website. Events will be occurring simultaneously in several venues: (click the links for directions via Google maps) The Main Street Gazebo Stage, The Franklin Town Hall, The Stewart Street Stage, and The Church Street Stage. There are also activities at the Scottish Tartans Museum [map][website],

There are also a couple of races this year. A 1K Kilt Walk/Run "The Great Kilted Run & Walk" in the downtown area and a Braveheart 5K. Wearing a kilt during these two events is strongly encouraged. Entry forms can be found on the Kilted Run page.  This is one event that I won't miss.

I've been covering this festival on this blog since 2007, and here is a taste of some of the things I've posted after attending the festivals:

The Franklin Tartan is Unveiled at the 2009 A Taste of Scotland

A Border Collie Herds Sheep at the 2007 A Taste of Scotland Festival

And lastly, a slide show from the 2008 festival...

I hope to see you at the 14th Annual A Taste of Scotland Festival next weekend!!!
