Daily Weather Briefing for Saturday, June 29, 2019





Nantahala Ranger District temporarily closing Moses Creek Road starting July 8

Franklin, NC, June 28, 2019 - The Nantahala Ranger District will temporarily close Moses Creek Road (FSR 4651) through the summer beginning Monday, July 8 for logging operations.

The road will reopen as soon as crews complete work and remove equipment from the roadway.

Safety is our priority. Visitors should avoid areas where logging operations are occurring. When driving, give logging trucks a wide berth.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across the mountains this afternoon and move east across the area into the early evening. Any of these thunderstorms will have the potential to produce frequent cloud to ground lightning, heavy rainfall, and gusty winds.
