Inama Nushif
The Dune Universe is littered with characters I adore. Chani is perhaps one of the favorites of my favorites. The following song, "Inama Nushif" is from The Children of Dune miniseries and is played during a video montage of the cleansing of the house as threats to the Atreides are removed and the twins Leto II and Ghanima are born to Paul's Fremen wife, Chani.

Babylon 5 Tribute Video: Retrospective
This is my favorite Babylon 5 fan tribute video of all-time. I think that it captures the essence of Babylon 5 and still evokes an emotional response every time I watch it.
I wish that there were SciFi shows today that had characters I cared about even half as much as I did (and still do) these characters and their stories.

Sunday Matinée: Bad Taste
This is a screenshot from Peter Jackson's film, called "Bad Taste" from 1987.
Bad Taste, released in 1987, is a cult action comedy/sci-fi splatter film. Produced on a low budget, it is one of the first films directed by Peter Jackson. The film features Jackson and his friends taking a number of key roles, both on and off-screen. The plotline sees aliens invade the fictional New Zealand village of Kaihoro to harvest humans for their intergalactic fast food franchise, where they face off against a four-man paramilitary force, of which at least one member appears to have gone insane...

Plan 9 from Outer Space
This is a bad movie, even by the standards of the Lifetime Movie Network...but still better than Wrestling.
The plot is preposterous (even for the 1950's, and the special effects are bad. Very, very bad.

Plan 9 from Outer Space (originally titled as Grave Robbers from Outer Space) is a 1959 science fiction/horror film written, and directed by Edward D. Wood, Jr. The film features Gregory Walcott, Mona McKinnon, Tor Johnson and Maila "Vampira" Nurmi. The film bills Béla Lugosi posthumously as a star, although footage of the actor was shot by Wood for another film just before Lugosi's death in 1956.
The plot of the film is focused on extraterrestrial beings who are seeking to stop humans from creating a doomsday weapon that would destroy the universe. In the course of doing so, the aliens implement "Plan 9", a scheme to resurrect Earth's dead as zombies to get the planet's attention, causing chaos.
For years, the film played on television in relative obscurity, until 1980, when author Michael Medved dubbed Plan 9 from Outer Space the "worst movie ever made". It has also earned Wood a posthumous Golden Turkey Award (an award of Medved's creation) as the worst director ever. Various critics since have concurred with this opinion.

Sunday Matinée:
War of the Worlds
This is the superior version of the films, and comes from the Golden Age of Science Fiction movies...I like them even if there is a bit of Lefty Moralizing in them.
If you have trouble viewing the video, try this page, and try installing the Veoh Web Player on your computer and using Firefox, although I have no trouble in Google Chrome.
If I ever succumb to making amateur films again, this is one story I would want to tackle, both in trying to be faithful to the original, and in making a modern re-telling.

How can I NOT embed this movie?
This movie is a fair adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke's book, save for leaving out the Chinese space mission to Europa.
I would like to see the movie franchise remade and retold in a fashion that included the Chinese space mission to Europa and also movies made of the prequel 2001 and the sequels 2061 and 3001.

Starship Farragut "For Want of a Nail"

The original series Star Trek is my favorite era of the Trek Universe, and I am glad that some fans are keeping the old-style production alive.
The videos should advance automatically, and I hope that you enjoy the second episode of Starship Farragut, "For Want of a Nail"
This will be one of the last live action shows for the series because they have decided to further develop the project as an animated series. That will be interesting, but I'll miss the live action stuff.

I wanted to let you know that we are indeed making more live action adventures, most recently a "Crew Log" we released in November called A Rock and a Hard Place. The animated episodes are a side project spearheaded by Michael Struck at NEO FX. More information is on our web site.

Star Trek: Starship Farragut "The Captaincy"
A little change of pace, and to steal a little material from another project I've been working on...
Here is the Star Trek Fan Film produced by Starship Farragut.
It is the first episode of the series, and set in the time of the original Star Trek TV series, with an eye to reproducing the old special effects. Of all the fan films out there, this one of the ones that comes close and stays true to the Teaser, 3 Acts and a Tag at the end that is the production formula used by Gene Roddenberry.

So Matt Smith is the 11th Doctor Who. Not John Simm, David Morrissey, James Nesbitt, Russell Tovey, Paterson Joseph, James McAvoy or, thank the Lord, David Walliams. Not Amy Winehouse, Catherine Zeta Jones or Lesley Sharp, all of whom were - somewhat mischeviously - suggested by outgoing showrunner Russell T Davies. After months of agitated speculation, we now know that the universe's favourite - and until the plot demands it, its only - Timelord will next be played by an actor best known for a role as a New Labour researcher.
Matt Smith, 26, is the youngest actor ever to take the role of Doctor. Known primarily for playing Danny Foster in Party Animals he's also attracted attention for a striking turn as a son in an incestuous relationship with his mother in Polly Stenham's play That Face.
With his identity revealed on BBC 1 this evening, Smith said he was 'flabbergasted' to get the role. "I haven't slept", he said. "It's an iconic part of our culture… it has the status of Robin Hood or Sherlock Holmes and I'm taking it on. It's nerve-wracking and exciting, I'm flabbergasted. It's a huge legacy [but] I want to be brave enough to make my own choices."

I think that Matt Smith will be a fine addition to the Doctor Who franchise.
I didn't discover the Doctor Who series until the mid-eighties.
My favorite Doctor is Sylvester McCoy and Ace is my favorite Companion.
Here is a tribute to both of them...
Those two had a chemistry that I don't think will ever be topped.
