. Power utility crews are contiung to work to repair and replace downed lines and poles in the areas that have been impacted by the recent storms. Duke Energy have finished their task in Macon County and will move to assist other counties who still have thousands of customers without electrical service. Convection

This is a brief look at a thunderstorm (12 minutes compressed into 30 seconds) that was located in Rabun County, Georgia and moving into Oconee County in South Carolina. I was in Macon County North Carolina, about 4 miles NE of Franklin.

I apologize for the lack of detail on the clouds...as my primary camera (a Kodak Zi6) died on me Tuesday night while covering the primary races. I filmed this with my Kodak Z950. It is a good still camera, or for taking videos of close subjects, but sucks at my favorate activity...taking time lapse videos in HD.

A Brief History of a Tornado Warning
01/24/2010

Graphic Courtesy Iowa State University

**7.02pm** Yes, I've typed 2009 instead of 2010 in several places. LOL. I'll fix the map later.

The area above was placed under a Tornado Warning by the National Weather Service for a brief time this afternoon after radar indicated conditions favored the formation of a tornado in Henderson and Buncombe Counties in western North Carolina.

I posted a radar image of the vortex on Twitter via TwitPic.

Here is the way the regional map for the GSP Office of the National Weather Service looked at the time the Tornado warning was issued:

Afternoon Time Lapse 07-31-2009

I'm a bit of a weather geek, and love everything weather-related and that includes just simply watching the clouds go by when I can find the time. I took this video last Friday afternoon. If you have a high-speed internet connection, press the HD button on the video player to watch a higher quality version.

I hope you enjoy it!
