The Macon County Republican Party will be hosting a forum for the Republican candidates for Congress today at 4:30pm. The event begins at 4:00pm with a meet and greet opportunity for voters to meet the candidates for Congress.

Meadows Wins Straw Poll in Transylvania County

On February 11, 2012, the Transylvania County Republican party hosted a candidate forum in the 11th Congressional District Republican Primary and held a straw poll.

I've been waiting to post this information until I had an actual vote tally to report.This morning I received a tally in a personal communication with a member of the Transylvania County GOP.

Macon GOP Fundraiser: PIZZA, PICKIN’ & POLITIKIN’

The Macon County Republican Party and the Gem Country Republican Women's Club held a fundraiser this past Saturday, November 19th at the Trimont Christian Academy. Funds are to go toward the opening of a party headquarters during the 2012 elections. If you missed the fundraiser, it is not too late to donate [click here].


The guest speaker was Phil drake of Drake Enterprises. He spoke about the upcoming elections and the video of that is below:

Jeff Miller Wins Six-Way Primary With 40.15 %; Dan Eichenbaum Calls for Recount

Eichenbaum has called for a recount. I'll keep you updated on how that goes. 


I offer my congratulations to Jeff Miller and his team on their well-earned victory. I look forward to see how they plan to tackle Heath Shuler in the General Election.

11th District Republican Party 2010 Convention Congressional Candidates Campaign Speeches

Republican delegates gathered in the Charles M. Beall Auditorium on the campus of Haywood Community College on Saturday for the 2010 Party Convention this past Saturday to conduct party business. Thankfully, there were no party leadership elections, it wasn't a presidential election year, and there weren't a lot of resolutions that tend to bloom on presidential election years that make a convention drag on until there is no longer a quorum to conduct business because delegates get tired and go home.

Jackson County GOP Convention Congressional Candidates Speak

At the Jackson County Republican Convention on Friday, a record turnout of Republicans gathered to have their annual party convention on party matters, to elect delegates to the district and state conventions. There were also  candidates seeking to be elected to various offices who were given the opportunity to speak before the assembled Republicans.

I caught up with James Howard before things got underway and he gave me an update on his campaign and went over his qualifications for this office.

Commentary

This is very, very sad, and an indication that the Republicans in the 11th Congressional District of North Carolina (candidates and voters alike) still haven't gotten over the fact that we can't depend on a self-funding candidate like Charles Taylor anymore. 


If the numbers aren't substantially better (at least a hundred-fold increase), it looks like Congressman Shuler will be getting a third term in the US House of Representatives.

Eichenbaum Wins Hometown Straw Poll in Cherokee County

According to Dr. Dan Eichenbaum [link] he has won the straw poll at an event hosted by the 9-12 Project group he helped form. 


Here are the numbers:

This is the second straw poll of which I am aware. The first was conducted at an event hosted by the Buncombe County Republican Party on December 14, 2009. Here are the results from that poll...

WCU YAL Republican Congressional Forum Remixed Video

I didn't like that this forum was only available on You Tube in short segments, but was not able to get around to correcting that until this past weekend.

It took me about an hour to insert all the graphics and my laptop 17 1/2 hours to render the 1 1/2 hour long video and 2 hours to upload it to Blip-TV. I've learned my lesson. No more recording events in HD if I plan on releasing it in segments longer than 10 minutes.
